Born in Lima, Peru. Multi-disciplinary artist based in Cologne. From 1999 to 2005 working on video, film, design, and performance under the video group “Sapo inc.” in Ecuador where he made studies in fine arts and visual communication at the Catholic University and the USFQ in Quito. From 2006 to 2009 postgraduate studies at the Academy of Media Arts of Cologne in the fields of videoart and experimental film. Rodríguez has been working as a lecturer at the Academy of Media Arts of Cologne, and as video and media advisor at Cologne’s City House Theater (Schauspielhaus Köln). Since 2016 he works as picture editor at Deutsche Welle. His performer character Pepi is a founder member of the FREIraum Ensemble. 2016 he co-founded the media plattform “Gonzo Echo Space Agency “with the interdisciplinary artist Echo Ho and won a grant of the Media Start-Up Center of North-Rhine Westphalia. Rodríguez’s works has been presented internationally in institutions and theater houses such as CalArts, Kunstmuseum Bonn, 104 Paris, KW Berlin, PACT-Zollverein among others and awarded in art venues and festivals, such as Oberhausen or the Videonale. His work deals with narrative experimentation and construction of identities against the background of radical fiction by using time-based media and performative arts.
