The personal quest for identity brings us to the encounter with the stranger and the confrontation with his image. He looks through our eyes. We called him Desire. FILM MY DESIRE is a silent film based on the encounter with a mime actor. This encounter gives rise to a film essay commenting on the abstraction of film as a mirror. Narratively, the tense relations between a protagonist figure and a viewer/creator figure move around the desire to radically appropriate the other’s image. Such appropriation seems to be conducted by pure desire but this can no longer be contained in a mirror without breaking it.
This project was developed within the Filmlaboratorium, a residency programme of the Filmwerkstatt Düsseldorf .
