Jean-Luc Godard’s interest in graphic design and typography is clear, with almost the entirety of his films employing a strong typography-only titles and intertitles. They are almost a self-sufficient entity, another character in the movie, another comment. For this G4 evening I will be delighted to present a collage of some of the lettering from Godard’s impressive body of work, including some classics such as Pierre le Fou, Weekend, Numero deux, etc. along with some short and documentary rarities. But only the text over black or imaged background will be taken into consideration -as Godard’s contemporary Michael Snow put it in his own minimal “text film”: so is this!

La Vidéothèque Nomade at 100 Papiers and Le Phare

La Vidéothèque Nomade is an eclectic catalogue of Belgian and foreign artists’ films screened during regular meetings organised in Brussels, Belgium and abroad.
Because it is a nomadic project, the meetings take place in unusual spaces like apartments or gardens, but also in more traditional locations: cinemas, galleries, etc.

The essay film “Rebeca” by Gonzalo H. Rodriguez is included in this catalogue.

Since 2005 68 Septante has been developing the planning and organisation of events activities in different types of places (cafes, bookshops, multidisciplinary complexes…)
These events concentrate on the circulation and promotion of works in the visual and acoustic art field.This choice of work thus enables a new relationship with the work, the artist and a more lively approach for the viewer.

A propos de Tristes tropiques.

Eine Reise durch Brasilien zu den Nambikwara, den Kaduveos und den Bororo auf den Spuren des jungen Lévi-Strauss. Basierend auf Originalmaterial seiner Brasilienreise von 1935-1936 und späteren Interviews sowie Auszügen aus seinem berühmten titelgebenden Reisebericht.

REQUIEM FÜR ORTE
Tanz-Film-Produktion

In unserer Erinnerung bleiben die Orte, an denen wir einst lebten, unverändert. Doch was geschieht mit diesen Orten, wenn wir sie verlassen haben? Und was geschieht mit uns, den Reisenden? Oft bleibt uns von der Reise nur die Nostalgie der Bilder – eine Nostalgie, die wie ein Durst ist, den wir nie stillen können. Die Musik Chopins, die unstete Wanderschaft des Komponisten durch ganz Europa bilden das Gerüst und den Rhythmus dieser Tanz-Film-Inszenierung. Das choreografisch-filmische Material ist der Spiegel, der unseren Wegen folgt, sie speichert und auf den Betrachter zurück wirft.

Mit seiner dritten abendfüllenden Tanzproduktion wagt sich das Team um Slava Gepner auf neues Terrain: akustisch verfremdete Musik und integrierte Filmprojektionen geben der Choreografie ihren architektonischen Raum und die emotionale Tiefe.
